*I like Sirloin medium rare. So how did Sirloin get it's name?

  • Alphabetical nameing of meat cuts.
  • It was knighted.
  • From "seared" Lion of beef.
  • Named after a gartered Knight who was a chef.

Explanation: King James the 1st was so taken by a tasty loin of beef he was eating at Houghton Tower ( a 16th century castle in Lancashire England)He drew his sword and Knighted it, creating Sirloin of beef ( I think maybe he had had a flagon or two of mead) It is said that Shakespear also stayed there. He was also known to bend an elbow on occasion without a pen in his hand..
